She loves her grandfather and he loves her. In October 2020 I was invited to take part in the wedding of my childhood friend whom I’ve known since first grade. Being a part of the wedding party I thought it might give me a unique perspective to make a few frames. So, I brought along my Fuji X100S to capture the moments and I witnessed something that I had not expected. I witnessed a grand relationship between a grandfather and his granddaughter.
A relationship where she was glued to his side. She wanted no one else to have his attention. It’s was obvious that she adored him and he adored her. And really isn’t that how it’s supposed to be, a relationship where you feel appreciated no matter the situation? Someone in your life to make you feel supported and respected. Someone who will always make you feel safe. Someone to always look to for advice, support, and realistic views of what to expect from this world.
Someone who encourages you to do things outside your comfort zone when you are embarking on new and foreign challenges. Someone who walks you through the steps of how to get those things accomplished and tells you, “You can do this”.
Abraham Lincoln is quoted as saying… “ It’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years”. Having someone to guide you through life at such an early age is something special. A grand relationship is what we all long for. Those that have it definitely have something special.
